The armless man in a tank top is
at the beach with flip-flops on
He gets a chili dog
plays a game of volleyball
And then I drifted off...
And started thinking about you again
how we used to
sit on my balcony
And now just I and it's like a dead star

though you see it
there in the night
I heard a shout then I came about
and saw his Panama hat
spat up in the sand
The armless man was being dragged off
flopping on the surf
like an ice cube
And then, I grabbed my flutter board and ran
and dove into the combers
I punched him twice to knock him out
and dragged him
back up to the bar
And gave him CPR
And then I started thinking about you again

He's harmless or so they say
though he almost drowned us both today
